In view of the short­age of labor, com­pa­nies are find­ing it increas­ing­ly dif­fi­cult to fill vacan­cies. In the lat­est eco­nom­ic sur­vey con­duct­ed by the Karl­sruhe Cham­ber of Indus­try and Com­merce, 65% of the com­pa­nies sur­veyed see the short­age of skilled work­ers as a risk to eco­nom­ic devel­op­ment. As a result of demo­graph­ic change, this short­age is expect­ed to become even more acute. For exam­ple, the num­ber of peo­ple of work­ing age will decrease sig­nif­i­cant­ly by 2035 as a result of demo­graph­ic change. How­ev­er, there are a num­ber of approach­es to sta­bi­lize the over­all vol­ume of work in the econ­o­my despite an increas­ing­ly age­ing population.

A strong lever for the labor force poten­tial lies not only in rais­ing domes­tic per­son­nel reserves, but also in the employ­ment of skilled work­ers and trainees with a migra­tion background.
