Per­spec­tives on pro­tec­tion from forced mar­riage for young peo­ple in the the Karl­sruhe region

On May 04, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the spe­cial­ist event “Per­spec­tives on Pro­tec­tion from Forced Mar­riage among Young Peo­ple in the Karl­sruhe Region” will take place in the Bürg­er­saal of the City Hall of Karlsruhe.

This is aimed in par­tic­u­lar at pro­fes­sion­als who work with immi­grant fam­i­lies and peo­ple with inter­na­tion­al histories.

It is intend­ed to raise pub­lic aware­ness of the issue, pro­vide an oppor­tu­ni­ty to exchange infor­ma­tion, strength­en local pre­ven­tion and iden­ti­fy inter­faces on the ground.

The event is ded­i­cat­ed to every­thing worth know­ing about the top­ic of forced mar­riage and the asso­ci­at­ed legal basis.

It will pro­vide infor­ma­tion on where those affect­ed can find help and pro­tec­tion in Baden-Württemberg.

In addi­tion, a look at the prac­tice in the Karl­sruhe region will be tak­en in order to clar­i­fy what is (still) need­ed here in terms of prevention.

With­in the frame­work of this event, Aktion Jugend­schutz Baden-Würt­tem­berg, the Chil­dren’s Office, the Equal Oppor­tu­ni­ties Offi­cer and the Office for Inte­gra­tion of the City of Karl­sruhe as well as the Inte­gra­tion Offi­cer and the Equal Oppor­tu­ni­ties Offi­cer of the Dis­trict of Karl­sruhe are cooperating.

The Lord May­or of the City of Karl­sruhe, Dr. Frank Men­trup, and the Head of Social Affairs of the Karl­sruhe dis­trict, Mar­git Fre­und, will give wel­com­ing addresses.
