The Kine­math­ek is Karl­sruhe’s non-prof­it film art house that dis­cov­ers, pre­serves and exhibits films. Through care­ful and con­tin­u­ous work, exchange with dis­trib­u­tors and archives, film his­tor­i­cal research and aes­thet­ic reflec­tion, the pro­gram series are curat­ed and medi­at­ed. It is thanks to enthu­si­asm and vol­un­tary com­mit­ment that the Kine­math­ek has been able to offer a film pro­gram for over forty years that stim­u­lates thought and dis­cus­sion, keeps its fin­ger on the pulse of the times, and con­vinces through artis­tic qual­i­ty. With 600 events and around 17,000 view­ers a year, the Kine­math­ek is regard­ed as a plat­form for social exchange and a meet­ing place for dif­fer­ent gen­er­a­tions, but also as a school of vision in the midst of the con­tem­po­rary media flood.
