Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) refers to the partial or total removal or injury of the female external genital organs for non-medical reasons. FGM/C can have serious physical and psychological consequences, including chronic pain, infections, urinary problems, menstrual difficulties, and complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
The gynecology department at Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe offers a safe and confidential counseling service for women and girls who are affected by or at risk of FGM/C.
We want to create a safe space where you will be treated with respect, understanding, and medical expertise. Your personal experiences are taken seriously. All consultations are subject to medical confidentiality. Relatives and professionals are also welcome to seek information and support.
Consultation hours take place on the first and last Friday of every month from 11:00 am. to 12:00 pm.
