Integration Committee of the City of Karlsruhe
People with diverse (migration) experiences and influences from cultural, religious and other social backgrounds call Karlsruhe their home and enrich the city’s society on a daily basis.
To ensure equal opportunities for all residents of Karlsruhe and to highlight the interests and potential of people with a migration background, the city of Karlsruhe has established the Integration Committee (InA).
The committee advises the city council on matters of integration policy and advocates for equal participation of all people – with or without a migration background – in society, politics, culture, and the economy.
The members of the Integration Committee give a voice to Karlsruhe’s cultural diversity. They build networks between migrant associations, initiatives, organizations, and municipal institutions. In doing so, they promote exchange, strengthen democratic participation, and actively support the process of intercultural openness.
Meetings of the Integration Committee are generally open to the public, and all residents of Karlsruhe are warmly invited to attend as spectators.
Composition
The Integration Committee consists of ten expert residents and eleven members of the city council.
Each expert resident has a designated substitute.
The appointment of expert residents and their substitutes to the Integration Committee takes place every five years.
The most recent election was held in December 2024.
