Karl­sruhe Palace

The palace in the cen­tre of Karl­sruhe is an out­stand­ing land­mark and meet­ing point in the “fan-shaped city”. Today the for­mer res­i­dence of the mar­graves and grand dukes of Baden is not only a com­pre­hen­sive muse­um but also offers lots of things to do.

Baden State Museum

The Mar­ket Square of Karlsruhe 

Framed by the icon­ic Town Hall (Rathaus) and the strik­ing Pyra­mid, the Mark­t­platz (Mar­ket Square) is not only a hub of local life but also a place full of sto­ries. The Pyra­mid marks the grave of the city’s founder, Mar­grave Karl Wil­helm, and is the true heart of Karlsruhe.

Cre­at­ed by artist Jochen Gerz, the square fea­tures plaques with real quotes from legal rul­ings, judges, and cit­i­zens – some provoca­tive, some poetic.
