International professionals and students are an essential part of the future of the Karlsruhe Technology Region. While integration at work or university often happens quickly, settling into everyday life, building friendships, and discovering the region can be much more challenging.
To support international newcomers during this important phase, the Welcome Center TRK is looking for volunteers to become Welcome Guides. Welcome Guides accompany international professionals or students for a limited period, helping them build social connections, discover local opportunities, and feel at home in the region.
The program is based on one-to-one tandem partnerships and personal exchange. For many newcomers, a new chapter begins in the Karlsruhe Technology Region. However, alongside work or studies, many questions often arise:
- How do you meet new people?
- What leisure activities are available?
- How does a new place truly become home?
To prepare participants for this role, the Welcome Center TRK offers a free training program focused on intercultural communication and mentoring.
Would you like to become a Welcome Guide yourself?
All citizens who feel at home in the Karlsruhe Technology Region and are happy to share their experiences and tips can become a Welcome Guide. Personal encounters often play a key role in helping newcomers decide whether they want to stay in the region long-term. It doesn’t matter whether you have lived in our region for a long time or have only recently arrived here.
What are the framework conditions of the tandem relationship?
- Duration: 6 months
- Frequency of contacts: At least once every two weeks
- The format of the meetings is determined by the tandem partners themselves
- The Welcome Center TRK is always available as a point of contact
Registration: welcome@trk.de
