The new Nat­u­ral­iza­tion Act came into force on June 27, 2024. It brings with it some impor­tant changes:

• The naturalization period has been reduced from 8 to 5 years (in special cases to 3 years).
• Dual citizenship is possible.
• Further simplifications for people who have been living in Germany for many years.
