Discover the joy of African choral music in a lively workshop: Karlsruhe Goes Africa! filled with rhythm, movement, and singing!
This workshop is open to everyone who would like to experience African choir music—no previous singing experience or knowledge of music notation is required. All you need is curiosity and a love of music.
Together, participants will explore beautiful melodies, vibrant rhythms, and traditional songs from different parts of Africa. Thanks to an easy and accessible teaching approach, even beginners can quickly join in and enjoy singing as part of a choir.
As an additional highlight, Emakulata-Upendo Heckele, a Swahili lecturer at the Adult Education Center (vhs Karlsruhe) originally from Tanzania, will give a 30-minute introduction to the cultural diversity of the African continent.
The workshop is led by Susanne Frische, an experienced choir director who has specialized in traditional choral music from Central and Southern Africa for many years.
Final Concert
On July 11, 2026, participants will perform the songs they have learned during a small final concert as part of “mondo meets Bildungscampus – A Summer Festival for Everyone.” The exact performance time will be announced later.
