#Where­AreWe? Word and Art – (Our) Voic­es for Democracy

We Are Part of It! – Work­shops for Democ­ra­cy Project

Are you between 16 and 21 years old and feel that your voice is not heard enough? Are you inter­est­ed in pol­i­tics, cul­ture, or social issues and want to make a difference?

Then this project is for you!

In “#Where­AreWe? Word and Art – (Our) Voic­es for Democ­ra­cy”, you will work togeth­er with oth­er young peo­ple to cre­ate a space for your ideas, expe­ri­ences, and per­spec­tives. You decide which top­ics mat­ter to you and how you want to express them.

Whether through music, paint­ing, graf­fi­ti, dance, the­atre, or cre­ative writ­ing, you will explore impor­tant issues, work cre­ative­ly, and make your voice heard. The results will be pub­lished on an inter­ac­tive plat­form fea­tur­ing pod­casts and exhi­bi­tions, mak­ing your ideas vis­i­ble to a wider audience.

• Cre­ative work with­out “right” or “wrong” answers
• Insights into dif­fer­ent per­spec­tives and experiences
• The oppor­tu­ni­ty to pub­lish and share your work

How does the project work?

The project starts on June 27, 2026, from 3:00 PM to approx­i­mate­ly 6:00 PM at the vhs Karl­sruhe.

Dur­ing the kick-off event, you will explore ques­tions such as:

• Which top­ics are impor­tant to you?
• What would you like to make visible?
• How can your ideas con­tribute to society?

You will be sup­port­ed through­out the process and learn how demo­c­ra­t­ic par­tic­i­pa­tion works through vot­ing, trans­paren­cy, dis­cus­sion, and col­lab­o­ra­tive decision-making.

Start­ing on August 3, you will begin devel­op­ing your ideas and explor­ing how mes­sages and expe­ri­ences can be expressed through art. From August 5 onwards, you will work with pro­fes­sion­al instruc­tors to learn dif­fer­ent artis­tic tech­niques and cre­ate your own projects.

The work­shops are planned for the after­noons. Since your par­tic­i­pa­tion and input are impor­tant, each group will decide togeth­er which days and times work best.

On August 12, par­tic­i­pants will present their first results.

In autumn, the project con­tin­ues with pod­cast pro­duc­tion and inter­view train­ing, help­ing you make your voice not only vis­i­ble but also heard. The sched­ules for these activ­i­ties will also be arranged togeth­er with the participants.

From autumn until March, you will addi­tion­al­ly help devel­op an inter­ac­tive online plat­form where your top­ics, ideas, and cre­ative work can be shared with oth­er young peo­ple and adults. The focus remains the same through­out the project:
