The SkF is a professional association, a women’s association and an association within the church.
The SkF Karlsruhe with about 200 professional employees and currently about 20 fields of work is managed by an honorary board, which is supported by a full-time management (as a member of the board) six department heads and administrative staff. Other women volunteers contribute their professional, personal and spiritual skills to the overall work of the association, so that volunteer and professional work complement each other.
The SkF is open to all women and men who would like to cooperate and who are willing to support its idealistic direction. Women of different ages and from all walks of life can volunteer in many areas of the association’s work. Life experience, everyday competence and spontaneity are required as prerequisites for helping to shape and change social situations and conditions. The local association is active in the fields of youth and family assistance, support, counselling and women’s shelter work. It also maintains two day care centers.
